Be aware
You can expect slight pain after the operation in local anesthesia. We recommend you take 1g of Panodil (2 tablets) 4 times a day for the first 2-3 days after the surgery.
If you feel in need of stronger painkillers, you can get a prescription from the surgeon.
Swelling is a normal part of the post-operative healing. The swelling can increase for the first 2-3 days after surgery. You can apply an icepack on the operated area for about 20 minutes several times ind the first 24 hours. This can help control the swelling and make you more comfortable. The stiches used in the area of your surgery are selvdissolving.
Instructions for you
If you experience bleeding from the operated area bite firmly on a gauze for 15-20 minutes. If the bleeding persist contact the clinic on +45 7846 2927 during the day (8am - 3pm) or the hospital reception on +45 7845 0000 after opening hours. Ask for the maxillofacial surgeon on duty.
Eat soft food for about 3 days after the surgery.
A good oral hygiene is essential for healing.
Start rinsing your mouth with Chlorhexidine the first day after surgery. Use a 0,12% concentration twice a day for a week.
You may brush your teeth as normal, but not in the operated area. Remember not to use Chlorhexidine and toothpaste at the same time.
Avoid physical activity for the first 48 hours after surgery.
